My husband and I are traveling to DC this weekend. Is the Five Guys Hamburger place that garnered great reviews across the country for one of the best hamburger places to visit the one off Leesburg Pike (or is it King Street) in northern Virginia? Thank you!

Five guys is a chain. They’re all the same. If you’ve never cooked and grilled your own burgers, you’ll think these are good. I think they’re grossly overcooked with hard buns. (I like my burgers cooked medium, and they only do well done) They do have a variety of toppings though.
I hope you like it. I think I’m the only person I know who doesn’t like it. Good luck!

I personally think that they are overrated unless you go to the original. There is something about the original. They are now chain so they gain more recognition. But, take my advice with a grain of salt. I’m a local restaurant snob, and the fact that it is a now chain gives it a black mark in my book anyway. I’ve not eaten at the original, just one of the chains that litter megaopolis suburbia. They are undoubtly good, but best? Not so sure.
If you DO go, make sure to go to one of the original NoVa locations – they are run by the originals.
Before you’ve decided on Five Guys, consider other options.

Leesburg Pike = King Street. Leesburg Pike begins West of Interstate I-95. The Five guys is less than a mile. I eat at all of them and can tell you there is no difference. I prefer the Old Town store at Fayette. Then you can walk it off window shopping on King Street.
My only Five Guys complaint…I wish they made shakes! Then all would be right in the world!
Enjoy!
